Balmain SS11
Christophe Decarnin wanted to know one thing this season: “Are you ready to rock?” His runway show for Balmain knocked it out of the park with a fantastic collection that was almost sickeningly hip. For the worn-in, been-around-the-world rocker look, you hip young things need look no further.
The collection was off to a blazing start with an outfit that featured a metal studded tuxedo jacket, and black leather capris that showcased an array of zippers down the thigh. The models wore hair that was natural and straight, and just enough makeup to transform them into youthful, sassy visions. Paint splattered tanks and glittering skirts were paired with tall, black, leather boots. Decarnin also went heavy on the bleach and paint splatters on his pants and tops, such that his outfits were dripping with awesome. The red, studded jacket glittered like it was covered in diamonds as it came down the runway.
What is striking about this collection is that, overall, it was simple. It was mostly t-shirts, tanks, shorts, jeans and jackets. There wasn’t a lot of fuss over drape, or dramatic dresses. This is a completely wearable collection that will soon be on the backs of It-Girls worldwide.
