Paris Fashion Week Highlights
VIDEO: Elie Saab SS11
Elie Saab has dressed dozens of celebrities. After seeing his latest collection at Paris Fashion Week, you can understand why. Every dress is red-carpet worthy, and he infused the collection with a subtle hint of the 1970s. A little retro throwback is always good when headed down the red carpet. It makes dressing up fun: more like a costume gala than a black-tie affair.
The first thing that comes to mind when viewing the collection is Disco Glam. There is a certain “Michelle Pfeiffer in Scarface” feel to the beautiful, glittering goddess dresses that paraded down the runway. Models accessorized with armfuls of bangles, which were a delightful accent to the clothes. Chiffon prints, flowing pant legs that scraped the ground, and ruched bodice details did not escape our notice. Some of the best dresses were decorated with tiny mirrors that shone like disco balls at Studio 54.
Most of what Saab did was entirely in keeping with what other designers have been doing this season (see-through fabric, chiffon, bows, ruffles, etc.), but this collection was especially ladylike and glamorous.
