Paris Fashion Week Highlights
VIDEO: Nina Ricci SS11
Nina Ricci had the feel-good collection of spring. It started off with the basic neutral shades that every designer had been doing (not boring, but predictable), and then color started creeping in. Suddenly, the collection exploded in cobalt blues, fuchsias, hot pink, and lemon yellow. The color infusion was just what we need to sit up and take notice.
The runway show was filled with indelibly delightful pieces. Everything shown was feminine, ladylike and darling with a slight 60s influence to it. We were in love with the lace gloves, the grey tiered ruffle dress, the belted cardigan, and pleated and gathered boxy shorts. The models looked like sweet little cupcakes in their ruffled, chiffon tops, and rosette covered dresses. One outfit really stood out in the collection: the hot pink popcorn cardigan, blush camisole, and dark yellow silk skirt offset with matching gloves was glamorous and precious at the same time. This collection looked good enough to eat.
