Paris Fashion Week Highlights

VIDEO: Stella McCartney SS11

Stella McCartney is astonishingly good at capturing the spirit of a season. Her spring collection looks like a spring collection. There are no heavy fabrics or off-message leather messes to deal with. Everything she designed is simple, crisp and breezy.

She starts off the show with an array of pretty pastels: blush pink, mint green, and soft khaki. She also favors navy blue (no surprise there, McCartney loves using navy in her collections) to complete some very well-tailored business suits. Some of her looser garments still carry with them a certain hippie elegance, never straying into mom territory. There were several flowing dresses with slits cut up to the thighs that gave the dresses gorgeous, graceful movement as the models strutted the runway.

Everyone from celebrities to soccer moms loves Stella McCartney because she allows a strong feminine spirit to infuse her collection, but she still manages to keep things simple, chic and graceful. If you want to feel like a woman, but you don’t have the time for halters and corsets and stockings, wear McCartney. You will feel elegant and cool at the same time.
