New York Fashion Week Coverage

Diane von Furstenberg Fall 2012

Prepare to play the part of voyeur when you watch Diane von Furstenberg’s slinky, clandestine “rendezvous” themed collection. DVF and her design partner, Yvan Mispelaere, know the thrill of being “glamorous at a moment’s notice.” That really is a seductive idea. And seduction is what this show is all about.

The intrigue of this cat-and-mouse game of figure vs. foreground has DVF exploding the notion of secrecy and replacing it with attention-grabbing garb that hugs the figure and draws attention to the silhouette. Nothing accomplishes this more than the surrealist handprints across the chest of some of the more sensual dresses. A bold palette of red, turquoise, canary yellow and hot pink splash across the DVF stage, leaving us in awe of Furstenberg’s and Mispelaere’s vocabulary of enticement.
