New York Fashion Week Coverage
Tibi Fall 2012
After the opening flurry of New York Fashion Week, Tibi takes it down a notch, allowing us to relax and breathe easy as we drink in a simple, straightforward, and pitch-perfect collection. This nod to prep school fashion trotted out plenty of innocent, boyish ensembles for the tomboy in the crowd. This strikes the androgynous chord that the fashion world constantly flirts with, the same chord that resonates back to the consumer who finds intrigue in the mystery of it all.
This hushed (and ever so slightly repressed) show featured lots of suit separates, shiny brogue shoes, tartan dresses, wide leg trousers and slouchy coats. Hidden in among the plain and well-tailored were a few pieces of liquid metallic leather in the form of a copper red jacket and skirt, and a teal midi-length pencil skirt that shone with futuristic optimism. While this might harken back to the halcyon days of prep school playfulness, there are several pieces here that take this collection in a more luxe direction.
