Best of London Fashion Week

Jaeger London FW11

by Grace Gordon

Jaeger London approached their fall/winter 2011 collection with reverie for and reference to UK history.

It is hard to judge this collection in a vacuum – one must view it in context of its setting because this collection is distinctly British. Equestrian, Victorian and British royalty all had influence on the Jaeger London runway for fall, and the looks achieved were a remarkable mix of refined tailoring, poppy punches of color, and oversize silhouettes.

Blocks of primary colors paired with textured neutrals made for a surprising style mash-up. Prince of Wale checks and herringbone tweeds were mated with lemon yellow gloves, tomato red skirts, mustard jackets, and more. Wide-leg pants are back in full effect, and you can expect to see romantic, floor-sweeping dusters everywhere for fall. The return of the high-waist silhouette is gladly anticipated, especially when topped with a brightly colored skinny belt. Oversize outerwear brings balance to the wide leg proportions of the pants on Jaeger London’s runway. This vintage-inspired collection focuses on incorporating menswear into your every day wardrobe. For cinematic style inspiration, refer to seasons of Wodehouse’s “Jeeves and Wooster.”
