Jason Wu FW11
by Grace Gordon
In a world consumed with economic problems, fashion whiz kid Jason Wu has managed to create a collection for FW11 that is rich and beautiful without sacrificing for cost.
This collection solidifies the idea that he’s worth the hype. Drawing on photos taken of Versailles over the last 25 years, Wu’s collection is decidedly French Decadent. Expect the graceful frocks he’s known for, but this time, edged in lace, ruffles, bows, and sequins. Speaking of lace, we have to mention that Wu used 15 different types of lace in his collection – a rare treat in the fashion world where single patterns of lace constantly go in and out of style.
There were a lot of looks to take away from this collection, namely the gold-dipped heels, delicate polka dot print tights, subtle ruffled collars, tuxedo jackets, equestrian style bows, and lace-trimmed everything. This collection was a feast for the eyes, and proves, without question, that Wu has come into his own as stable and respected fashion designer.
