London Fashion Week Coverage
Acne Spring 2012
Acne has always been an edgy, lively brand, but they really knocked their latest collection out of the ballpark. Filled with angular shapes, strange proportions, and silky fabrics, there are a lot of looks here that shouldn’t work – but they just do.
Jonny Johansson flexed some serious design muscles this season as he walked a tightrope down the middle of two extremes: exaggerated proportions (like oversized shorts and gauchos) that hide the figure, and slim, midriff-baring outfits that reveal the figure. Most young designers create for the hip crowd. At Acne, Johansson creates a new breed of hip because he’s an innovator. He doesn’t wait for the catwalk to dictate trends. He simply does his own thing, and the magnetic draw of good design is enough to set him apart.
