London Fashion Week Coverage

Issa Spring 2012

The Issa show was abuzz with the anticipated appearance of Pippa Middleton, but she never showed. It was fitting that her presence was expected, as this looks exactly like the kind of outfits she’ll wear in the spring. The Issa collection, for the most part, is saccharine, innocent, and as cute as a baby bunny. That is, until a few wafty caftans, swinging fringe, and mature lacy frocks made their way onto the stage.

While previous Issa collections have been modish and edgy, this one is a nod to Rio de Janeiro’s warm climates and “ladies who lunch” style sophisticates. Designer Daniella Issa Helayel relied on crisp cotton to add that adorable Easter-dress feel to the collection, but it runs up against the fact that the dresses may have looked better in other, more sensual fabrics. Though this collection hardly breaks any ground, it’s sure to be a reliable retail favorite come Spring.
