Mark Fast Spring 2012
On the Mark Fast Spring/Summer 2012 runway, Fast combined volcanic island living with volcanoes themselves. The catwalk collection runs from earthy, bohemian looks at the start to dresses as black as obsidian toward the end.
Knits that dissolve into crochet fringe resembling grass skirts, bright-colored bikini coverups, and sweet layered, ruffled dresses were part of Fast’s light touch. He makes a big power play, however, when he shows big-shouldered, two-piece suits in electrifying shades of orange and red. As these hot lava looks cool, they turn black like magma. The final look has a shot of red built into the roiling, voluminous skirt of the dress, like a burst of hell-hot fire streaming between the cracks of cooling ground.
