Topshop Unique Spring 2012
While the show notes promised a tribute to Cleopatra and Egyptian themes, Topshop Unique had another influence come through on their SS12 catwalk: the urban delinquent. This look ranged from chavvy-chic to a confusing array of Cleopatra print, Egyptian chokers, and bandea dresses.
Goldleaf dragon printed sweaters and rompers, bandage skirts, and Magic Eye trousers all spelled Fashion Hoodlum on the runway. Leather baseball caps, sheer zig-zag festooned ponchos, and lots of black-and-white-and-sheer all over dresses were in the mix as well. While this was so youthful as to be exclusive, there were a few decent pieces that saved the rest of the mess from the bins of fashion obscurity – like a very nice washed denim layered jacket. One thing is certain, this really is Topshop Unique.
