Felder Felder Fall 2012
For Fall/Winter 2012, Felder Felder chose to eschew their former rock ‘n roll aesthetic in favor of a warmer collection. This move marks the increasing maturity of the brand. Felder Felder keeps their silhouettes lean and youthful, but they break out of the dark-rock mold that they have been known for, and we’re happy they did.
The show launches with a sunset patterned dress in warm earth tones, paired with a raw shearling coat. This abstract pattern appears many times on the Felder Felder runway but it runs the strata from subterranean – like staring into the heart of the earth – to a more astral plain – like a starry, Aurora Borealis lit sky. Skinny trousers, platform shoes, tunics, and jackets have the Felder Felder shapes we love, but they were imbued with a more restrained femininity. Though chubby knitwear tops – some decorated with braided crisscrossing straps – provided the textural aspect to this collection, most of the looks were airy and mutable. You could practically hear the retailers in the audience ratcheting up these wearable, consumer-friendly looks.
