Milan Fashion Week Coverage
Alberta Ferretti Spring 2012
Alberta Ferretti showed a masterfully controlled collection at Milan Fashion Week that married suggestive looks to conservative ones. Here’s how she did it: a basic palette provides the canvas (black, white, peach, lemon, etc.) and strips of sheer provide the décor. The sheer strips give a peek at body parts underneath, so even the sweetest, most proper dress shows a shock of nudity.
Ferretti wisely breaks up this flirtation with subtle sexiness with some mature pieces that came in a variety of muted tropical prints. Those prints were draped languidly on the models for a vacation-at-St.-Tropez look. She returns to the racier side of things, however, with those sheer strips, crochet cut-outs, and see-through skirts. If you’re looking to seduce, but you want to do it slowly, Ferretti is where you should buy your wardrobe.
