D&G Spring 2012
D&G, the more youthful, trendy offshoot of the Dolce & Gabbana brand, went out with a bang (would you expect anything less from this flamboyant line?). Their high-octane final show was a colorful feast for the eyes and was set to an energetic soundtrack of Prince/James Brown.
Prints like those found on vintage Italian silk scarfs, Turkish carpets, and the familiar paisley of the 60s were painted in brilliant hues on every garment in this collection. Each look was either paired with competing colorful scarf patterns or with plain neutrals like a denim shirt or button-up Oxford. Bloomers and bikinis ruled the runway, as well as tummy-baring knotted tops and breezy outerwear pieces. The silhouette at D&G was simple: everything was cinched or knotted at the waist so that an hourglass figure was formed. Additional touches like coral strand wedges and brilliant clutches filled out this collection to its utmost potential. Though we’re sad to see D&G go, they ended well – with a festive collection that won’t soon be forgotten.
