Milan Fashion Week Coverage
Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2012
It seems as if Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have turned into “foodies” with a Spring/Summer 2012 collection that was as festive and veggie-packed as the bins at an outdoor market in Milan. Even the earrings that swung pendulously from the earlobes of the models were tiny replications of farfalle pasta and garlic cloves.
This bright, nearly edible looking parade of summery frocks and bra-top/skirt combinations was fresh and fetching. Yet, as eveningwear left daywear behind, the looks became far more couture. Textured with appliqués and gemstones, lacy, sensual dresses ruled the night and glittered like the lights of the Teattra ala Scala. The finale was exceptionally sensational. Instead of one amazing look to cap the show, Dolce & Gabbana sent a floor of models flooded down the runway in crystal-encrusted corsets.
