Etro Spring 2012
Gone is the signature Etro paisley, and in its place is a newfound blend of both tribal and Art Deco influenced prints. This lively, colorful collection transmits a signal from the 1920s and we’re picking it up loud and clear. The effluent, dynamic spirit of this collection picks the best looks from the flapper era and updates them in sleek, modern silhouettes and a brilliant palette of chameleon colors.
The waist on the Etro runway is either dropped or non-existent as the silhouette relies on a free-flowing outline that is enhanced by the silk fabrics most of the looks come in. The hems are often cut shorter in the front which allows a longer peep of pleated chiffon to show through underneath. Beaded gossamer fringe enhances the flapper feel of this collection while toppers like silver vests, tuxedo blazers, and a gold-trimmed robe of nude and black bring the looks firmly into the 21st century. Followers of Etro will be inclined to agree that this is one of the best collections the label has shown in years.
