Milan Fashion Week Coverage

Versace Spring 2012

Fashion fever mounts as Versace’s recent collaboration with H&M is set to hit stores. And now, if this collection is any indication, this is going to be the Year of Versace. Truth be told, that’s okay with us, if it means we get to live in the glamazon world of Versace that, while crisp, clean, and perfect, still radiates an inner warmth.

This season, the Versace runway glowed. Nearly every outfit came trimmed in neat rows of small, perfect studs. The studs were the anchor point to the collection, but by no means the whole story. The color palette was a revelation of soft lemon, pale lime, robin egg blue, ivory white, and inky black. Even though the silhouette was strict and studded, the looks were still soft and delicate. This was a collection that focused on limber limbs and taut tummies. Prim jackets were paired with shorts and bandeau tops. Soft ballerina-inspired dresses were a gorgeous filler, and the draped and tucked column dresses at the end of the show are sure-fire red carpet winners. We can already see the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie rocking these strong but feminine dresses come Oscar time.
