New York Fashion Week Coverage

Anna Sui Spring 2012

Anna Sui infused her SS12 collection with a mix of 40s glam and a bit of pin-up bad girl attitude. The key to the show lies in the accessories: cat-eye sunglasses, silk turbans, and bobby socks are all nods to retro looks favored by the hip rockabilly crowds. What’s refreshing about this collection is no one else at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week showed anything like it. There were some darker, more dramatic looks to be found amongst the cherry printed blouses and tie-neck print dresses with ruffled hips. For instance, a black sequin short dress with a sheer maxi overlay looked especially dangerous and sultry. This collection was campaigning for the vote of the vixen, and she’s apt to give it when there are so many sexy sartorial selections available.
