New York Fashion Week Coverage
Diane von Furstenberg Spring 2012
Diane von Furstenberg’s SS12 collection begins with a shot of pure white – five ensembles that are layered, sheer, magically cut, and breathtakingly beautiful. Slowly, color creeps into the collection in the form of pale neutrals and pastels, and then the prints take over. DVF’s latest offerings run the gamut from virginal frocks to brilliant prints.
This collection is a mixed bag. Some of it looks like a Resort collection, like the loud printed pantsuits and oversized sunglasses. Some of it looks like office attire, like the dove gray jacket and cream pencil skirt. Some of it is cruise-casual like the blush pink kaftan dress. Yet, it is all light and radiant and infused with a bold feminine strength that only a veteran designer like DVF can work effortlessly into a collection.
