Vera Wang Spring 2012
Vera Wang’s capricious SS12 collection is for the coltishly long-legged and guileless women of the world. With Alice and Wonderland as the cited inspiration, it’s clear to see that Wang is taking the audience on a trail down the Rabbit Hole.
She launches into spring with the freshest, brightest whites in sheer and see-through crochet, short shorts, and bubble-hem skirts that emphasize the legs. From there, a slow spill of colorful abstract prints creep into the collection, and the details get more interesting: flirty flips of peplum, triangle cut-outs, high slit skirts, and folded collars. The colors get sunnier and more variegated, until the finale which was a long-sleeved, short skirted dress with a flowing hem of bleeding watercolors.
