New York Fashion Week Coverage

Victoria Beckham Spring 2012

Victoria Beckham’s SS12 collection launched with a navy kung-fu style jacket, which was a prepossessed, beautifully cut example of polished outerwear. This jacket was paired with latex, cut-out, thigh-high boots that will probably single-handedly bring back the pointy-toe. This was a strong start for Beckham and her follow-up looks kept up the polished, grown-up, well-tailored and professional feel of that very first look.

Working in a palette of navy, tangerine, black, cream, and lavender, Beckham presented looks that ranged from figure-skimming, corseted, sleeveless dresses to slouchy hoodies, but all of it came with the feeling of restrained sophistication. The lavender and periwinkle silk hoodies and jackets were a nice touch for outerwear, and there were some clearly tennis-inspired skirts in the mix that were a nod to the sporty trends for spring. For celeb-turned-legit-designer, this was another simple, refreshing collection from Beckham that she can add to her litany of proud moments in fashion.
