New York Fashion Week Coverage
Carolina Herrera Fall 2012
Carolina Herrera’s models cut imposing but elegant figures against a pellucid white backdrop this season, in long, lean silhouettes. The matriarch of chic returns to the runway with a cohesive collection of shapely 60s crop jackets, ball gown skirts, and buttoned-up luxe.
Models on the Herrera runway were visions of loveliness in dresses and suit separates that drew attention to the face. Long pencil skirts, elbow length gloves, and sateen gowns made this a collection fit for a fête, but it was the full ball gowns (with pockets!) that really grabbed our attention. Shaggy fur sleeves added modern dimensionality to a few of the key outfits. Herrera plays with a very feminine palette of royal blue, deep purple, blush pink ,and sizzling red which helped to flesh out the ladylike feel of the show. A cheerful mood of party pizzazz ran through this otherwise elegant and sophisticated collection.
