Vera Wang Fall 2012
For Fall/Winter 2012, Vera Wang showed a very revealing collection, literally. Each outfit was comprised of sheer fabrics. It makes sense, given her influence of cathedral arches. Sheer fabrics allow us to peak at the architecture of the body. We’re metaphorically gazing at the ceiling of the Canterbury through filmy gauze.
The crisscross straps, jacquard coats, unusual layers, and chubby furs create more of a couture atmosphere to this collection. There isn’t a straightforward look in the bunch, but all of this avant-garde tailoring is thrilling, especially given that it’s coming from Wang. Spiky embellishments and prismatic gemstones enriched the later looks in the show. For the confident in the crowd, Wang’s dark and diaphanous collection is a real winner.
