Elie Saab Spring 2012
For all of the brilliant colors we’ve seen on the runway this season, Elie Saab presents one of the most coherent versions of a richly-hued collection. The purpose of this show was to present a visual assault of the deepest saffron, Kelly greens, and cobalt blues. Though it started off with a series of simple neutrals, it progressed quickly into a heart-quickening parade of lovely shades of the rainbow. The looks here are pretty basic: sweeping goddess gowns, lace and sheer details, high-slits and chic minidresses. They would have been boring if they hadn’t been dressed up in such a plush palette of colors. Elie Saab succeeds in, once again, creating a wearable collection of gowns and frocks destined to head straight to the red carpet.
